Fiona Hewitt grew up on the west coast of Scotland and graduated with a Masters degree in illustration from the Royal College of art in 2001. Her fine art has been exhibited in galleries in the UK, Europe and the USA and her award winning illustration work has been used for animation, product design, editorial, advertising and publishing.
Her nostalgic, retro style draws on a variety of themes including propaganda, children’s books, vintage advertising, stamps, trade cards and toys from around the world. Travel has been a major inspiration in Fiona’s work, most specifically the four years she spent living and illustrating in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai where she was drawn to the retro, oriental styling of an era gone by. This nostalgic feel has been a solid theme in her work throughout her career and continues to influence her work today.
In 2005 Fiona set up her own design led gift company called Wu & Wu and has spent the last 10 years designing products for her own brand, as well as for other companies such as Paul Smith and Blue Q. Her designs have also secured a successful range of licenses for bedding, stationary and home wares in both Europe and Israel.
Fiona has won numerous awards over the course of her career including The Communication Arts Award (Product Category) for Blue Q’s ‘Miso Pretty’ range and has worked with many of the most prestigious agencies and blue chip companies worldwide, these include Nike, Starbucks, The Financial Times, Ebay, Chronicle Books, D’Jecco, Wired, Roger la Borde, Target, The Grand Prix, Vodaphone and Paul Smith.
Fiona’s work has been showcased in various publications and art books including Blab, The American Illustration Annual, Pixelart, Computer Arts, Digital Arts, 3x3 and Design Star Boulevard to name a few.
Fiona currently lives and works in Brighton on the south coast of England.
